Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
PDForbit ("we," "our," or "us") provides online PDF tools at pdforbit.net (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using PDForbit, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Files You Upload
Your files belong to you. Here's how we handle them:
- Browser-based tools: Many of our tools (such as Merge, Split, Rotate, and Watermark) process your file directly in your browser. In these cases, your file is never uploaded to our servers - it stays on your device throughout the entire process.
- Server-based tools: Some tools may require processing on our servers to work (for example, certain conversion tools). When this happens, your file is uploaded solely to perform the requested task, and is automatically and permanently deleted from our servers shortly after processing - typically within a few hours, and never used for any purpose beyond completing your request.
- We do not review, inspect, share, sell, or use the content of your files for any purpose, including advertising, analytics, or AI training.
2. Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little as possible:
- Usage data: We collect basic usage information such as pages visited, tools opened, browser type, device type, and approximate location (derived from IP address). We use Google Analytics 4 for this. Google may set cookies or similar technologies and process data under Google's Privacy Policy.
- Cookies: We use essential cookies needed for the site to work, and analytics cookies from Google Analytics to measure traffic. When advertising is enabled in the future (for example Google AdSense), ad-related cookies may also be used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
- Contact information: If you email us or use a contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide (such as your email address and message) solely to respond to you.
We aim to collect only the personal information needed to operate and improve the Service.
2a. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the UK, we process your data on the following legal bases: (a) our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the Service; (b) your consent, where required (for example, for non-essential cookies); and (c) compliance with legal obligations where applicable.
2b. International Data Transfers
PDForbit may use infrastructure and service providers located outside your home country, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection, consistent with applicable data protection laws.
3. How We Use Information
We use the limited data we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve PDForbit's tools and performance
- Understand aggregate usage trends
- Respond to support requests or inquiries
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to operate PDForbit. They may process limited technical data (such as IP address, device info, or usage logs) under their own privacy policies. Current providers include:
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery (Privacy Policy)
- Google Analytics — traffic and usage measurement (Privacy Policy, Google Analytics terms)
- Google AdSense (when enabled) — showing ads on the site (Privacy Policy, AdSense help)
We do not sell your personal information. We choose providers that align with our commitment to not exploiting your file contents.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data that passes through our systems, including using secure connections (HTTPS) and limiting server-side file retention. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
PDForbit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. Since we retain very little data and delete uploaded files automatically, most requests can be resolved quickly.
If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Note that we do not sell or "share" personal information as defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7a. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no industry-standard interpretation of DNT signals, PDForbit does not currently respond to them differently, though we limit tracking by design as described above.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of PDForbit after changes means you accept the revised policy.
